Despair

Iaso's return after so many years will be damaging to Corone. Poor Corone will be following her around trying to get her attention and when she finally gets it, Ia's reaction will be less than frienldly, and Corone will refuse to come out of her den for days. Afterwards, while Nemi and Mena are out, Corone will go see the forgers and get her own special armor. She'll find some good trainers around the pride and fight to get used to the armor's weight. Then, she'll fight. Corone's reaction to her child screaming about the war's tearing her fsmily apart will cause her to exhaust herself physically and mentally for years until Nemi has to drag her to the healing den just so her element won't consume her. She'll refuse to listen to him when he tells her she needs to calm down about it, even yelling and crying into his mane before getting her armor and setting off again, though limping and heartbroken. She works so hard that after the third time she is hospitalised, her element almost wipes out another patient. The healers decide it's time for her to stop, and she angrily stomps out of her own den to find her children. She comes back a day or so later to crawl into bed beside Nemi and cry until she can't anymore. She keeps in this depressive state for a few days until she finally comes to terms with her children and just tries to help Mena not gtow up like that, even though she has already failed and doesn't know it. The second time Ia returns, She doesn't seek her out. She stays in her den until Ia leaves. Ia comes to see her mother, but doesn't get past the doorway. Corone doesn't look at her, but she still cries When Ia leaves, Corone finds Nemi and hugs him, beggijg him not to leave, too. "Demi would mainly be disappointed in Iaso. He thought he raised her better than to up and leave her family and the pride like she did. It also pains him that she makes her mother cry, as he really does love Corone. When Iaso leaves and when she returns, he is especially grumpy and snappy for days afterwards. Even on random days during the time she is absent, he goes into a trail of thought about the mess that his cubs have fallen into and he tends to wallow in a sort of self-pity and hopelessness. He'll try to hide his own sorrow from Corone, though she obviously picks up on it. He wants to stay strong for her and his only remaining son." (rewrite later lol) When Corone goes into these periods of depression, he cuts himself off from the pride (which means something is seriously wrong) and he tries to comfort his grieving mate. He offers to bear the pain of losing their family with her. She may or may not know it, but everyday he asks the returning patrols and other warriors he knows if they have seen his children, and it takes a lot for him to suck up his pride and ask. He might try to bar Iaso at first from seeing her mother, as he knows that she will only cause her pain. |
